Cheoy Lee 41 Offshore Ketch
Cheoy Lee commissioned naval architect Raymond H. Richards to design the Offshore 41 to replace the classic Phil Rhodes-designed Reliant 40. The Offshore 41 Ketch was designed as a long distance blue water cruiser with classic lines and substantial construction. Richards focused on ease of handling, crew comfort and heavy weather capability. Unlike the modern modular interiors the 41’s design has a unique blend of charm and personality A master-class in traditional joinery finished in rich Burmese teak the 41’s interior is a spacious layout suitable for long-term live-aboard use. The ketch rig divides the sail area for easier handling by a couple. The vessel’s physical characteristics and high ballast ratio would comfortably place it in Design Category A (Ocean), reflecting its ability to handle self-sufficient voyages in conditions exceeding Beaufort Force 8. The Offshore 41 remains a steadfast choice for the sailor who values traditional substance over modern sizzle.
